Product Details
This antique dish featuring a scalloped border and the classic Blue Onion pattern would be a lovely addition to a plate wall or blue and white porcelain collection.
In overall very good condition for its age, this piece has no large cracks and no crazing (fine cracks in the glaze). There are areas of chipping on the back as shown, including on the rim as well as the foot of the dish. These are not readily noticeable when the front of the plate is viewed head-on. This piece is marked with the oval and star backstamp belonging to the Meissen Oven and Porcelain Manufactory as well as two other marks in blue. The plate is also incised with the word Meissen. These markings date this plate to the late 19th to early 20th century, with the referenced marks utilized by the factory between 1882 and 1929.
The Carl Teichert (Meissner Ofen- und Porzellanfabrik vorm. Carl Teichert) pottery was established in 1863 and initially made oven tiles. The factory later became the Meissen Oven and Porcelain Manufactory and began producing porcelain tableware and figurines in 1880, including the Blue Onion pattern. The pottery ceased porcelain production in 1929.

Approximate dimensions: Plate measures 9 ¾ inches in diameter and 1 ⅜ inches high.
