Vintage Blue and White Porcelain Prunus Vase in the Kangxi Style
A lovely addition to any blue and white porcelain collection, this vintage vase features a prunus blossom motif on a dark blue ground. The design, often referred to as “cracked ice,” symbolizes the emergence of spring as prunus branches break the frozen ground below them according to ancient legend.
In overall great condition for its vintage age, this piece has no cracks, chips, or crazing (fine cracks in the glaze). Minor wear of the unglazed foot as shown consistent with age and prior use. The bottom of the vase is bears a double ring in the style of the Kangxi reign mark of the Qing Dynasty.
Approximate dimensions: 4 ¾ inches high; 5 inches in diameter at widest point.
