Vintage Framed Plum Lithograph "Monsieur Hâtif" by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

This lovely vintage framed lithograph is a reproduction of a botanical engraving by Belgian printmaker and lithographer Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). This rendering of a culinary plum (Monsieur hâtif) first appeared in Traité des arbres et arbustes que l’on cultive en France by Duhamel du Monceau, originally published in 1801. It was also one of fourteen 19th century botanical illustrations reimagined by Salvador Dalí as part of a 1969 commission by German publisher Jean Schneider known as the FruitDalí series (additional information here).

In overall very good condition for its vintage age, neither the print nor double matting of this piece has tears or fading. The frame's glass is without cracks, chips, or large scratches. Minor wear to the wooden frame as shown consistent with this piece's age and prior use. Wear to the backing paper as shown. The metal hardware attached to the frame is secure.
