Vintage Hand-Painted Chinese Porcelain Brush Box with Crane and Lotus Motif

Add Chinoiserie style to your home’s décor with this lovely vintage Chinese porcelain brush box featuring a motif of cranes and lotus blossoms, hand-painted with enamels in tranquil shades of coral, peach, and celadon green on a bone white ground. A venerated symbol in Chinese culture, the crane signifies longevity and peace. When perched among lotus flowers, the crane represents purity.

In overall very good vintage condition, neither the lid nor box of this substantial piece has large cracks or crazing. There are two smooth chips on the underside of the lid as shown, likely from prior use. The unglazed bottom of the box has expected wear as shown and is stamped “Porcelain Made In China Hand-Painted In Macau Not Suitable For Food Serving.”
