Vintage Mid-Century Riverdale Hunting Barkcloth Fabric Remnant
This vintage cotton screen print fabric remnant depicts pheasants and hunting dogs on a beige/tan ground punctuated by green vegetation. The colors are rich and vivid and have a look reminiscent of old paint-by-numbers pieces. This fabric would make lovely pillows in a traditional English-themed den or cabin. The yardage could also be used for a small upholstery project such as a bench or ottoman.
This medium-weight fabric appears to be cotton and is likely from the 1950's or 1960's. "Color Tested Fabric - Reg. Appl'd for U.S. Pat Off. - Best Obtainable VAT Dyes - Shrunketized - Residual Shrinkage Does Not Exceed 2% " is printed on one selvage edge. Based on our research, this verbiage was printed on other fabrics produced by the Riverdale Fabric Company of New York in the mid-20th century.
This fabric remnant has no large flaws or tears and no apparent dye irregularities. Vertical repeat is approximately 21 inches, and horizontal repeat is approximately 24 inches.
Approximate dimensions: This remnant measures just over 1 ¾ yards long (68 inches long) and 46 ¼ inches inches wide selvage to selvage.
