Product Details
This gorgeous large-scale documentary reproduction fabric features pheasants with nests of eggs and chicks among baskets of fruit in vivid shades of goldenrod yellow, teal blue, sage green, and saddle brown on a white ground. The pattern is of English origin and is called "Quincy Document." This fabric was part of Waverly's Merchant Princes' Collection, reproductions of early 19th-century prints brought to England and France from the Far East and then imported to America. This was the third such collection in a series produced by Waverly in the 1970's for Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeastern United States that depicts life in a rural New England town of the 1830's.
This upholstery weight 100% cotton fabric remnant is in overall very good condition for its vintage age. There is a flaw near one selvage edge as shown, as well as several faint yellow stains throughout. These were not removed with gentle laundering but may benefit from additional spot treatment. We suspect this yardage was used as a makeshift tablecloth as there was a narrow, hand-stitched hem on each non-selvage edge that was removed prior to laundering due to fraying. The selvage edge of the fabric reads, "Waverly Fabrics Div. of F. Schumacher & Co. Authorized Reproduction of "Old Sturbridge Village" Document 26.71.36 An Authentic Waverly Screen Print VAT Dyes Scotchgard Plus Up Machine Wash Warm Line Dry "
The fabric was gently laundered in cold water and line dried and has been stored in a dry, smoke-free, pet-free, and pest-free environment since acquisition.
Approximate dimensions: This fabric remnant measures 3 1/9 yards long and 56 inches wide including selvage. Repeat is 18 inches.
