At Letterworth, the joy of the holiday season has always been about sharing what we call “gifts from the heart,” those unique and special finds that are perfectly suited to their recipients. They are gifts that represent not only tradition but also time: the time invested by an artisan to create something that is as much a part him or herself as the person who receives it; the time spent selecting just the right gift for someone dear; the time that inevitably passes as thoughtful gifts are used and enjoyed, month after month or year after year, hopefully accompanied by fond memories of their receipt.
When selecting holiday items for a retail shop, it is relatively easy these days to attend a vendor gift show or place a wholesale order online with a few clicks of the mouse, often for pre-made items that are likely mass-produced in a factory overseas. At Letterworth we have made the conscious decision to offer handmade items for the holidays, crafted here in the United States, and using our own designs and artwork. We pride ourselves on our unique and creative items as well as the selection of the quality materials used to make them. Nearly all of the designs for our ornaments, gift wrap, and stationery products are developed well over a year prior to their holiday debuts, and some have been so popular on our other venues in previous years that we have offered them again based on client requests. While this means that our handcrafted items are often limited in supply, we believe that this reinforces how truly special and one-of-a-kind they are, not only in terms of their creation, but also the experience provided to those who give and receive them.
